In 1994, during the production of the second season of Power Rangers, the release of Saban Entertainment's new show, VR Troopers, American adaption of the Japanese Metal Hero series was finally complete. Jason David Frank, who played Tommy in Power Rangers in many different seasons was first offered the position of Ryan Steele, the main character, and the original name for the series was Cybertron.
