The Sailor and the Devil is an obscure animated short film that was made in 1967 by Errol Le Cain and Richard Williams. The film was made at William's studio in London and was Le Cain's apprentice piece, which he apparently animated single handedly. Not long after the film was completed most of the cels and artwork for it were destroyed in a fire. Only two copies of the film are known to exist, one of them is owned by Hans Bacher and the other being a recording of the short from 1980s HBO airing. The HBO recording is the most complete version of the film that exists online. A clip from the film was also featured in the short documentary 'The Creative Person'.
