Clifford the Big Red Dog is a cancelled 2016 live-action/animated feature film based on the book.

Production

In May 2012, Illumination Entertainment of the Despicable Me fame announced that they were working on a live-action/animated film based on the Clifford the Big Red Dog book series. Matt Lopez had been hired to write the script, while Chris Meledandri and Deborah Forte would produce the film. However, in July 2013, Illumination dropped the film.

On August 1st 2014, which was the same day that Guardians of The Galaxy came to American theaters, Universal Pictures announced that they have scheduled the Clifford the Big Red Dog movie for a release on Friday, April 8, 2016. The company said that it will be similar to Hop, which had CGI characters mixed with live-action backgrounds and characters. However, no other information has been posted since then, and not even a trailer, a screenshot or a poster for the film has been released to the public. It is currently unknown whether this movie will be released or not.
