Formed in 1979, Scottish new wave band Altered Images (whose name came from the design firm behind the single sleeve for the Buzzcocks' "Promises") developed a major following in the United Kingdom. There, they had six Top 40 hits and their three albums hit the Top 30. However, their final album, Bite, sold less than their previous two, and they broke up in 1983.

Lead singer Clare Grogan attempted a solo career afterwards, signing to London Records. There, an album entitled Trash Mad was recorded, and a single, "Love Bomb", was released off it. Alas, the single bombed enough for the album (and follow-up single "Strawberry") to be scrapped.
