Black Flag, formed in 1976, have been regarded as forefathers of the hardcore punk genre, and their 1981 debut Damaged is also regarded as a classic. As is the case with other albums, outtakes are known to have been recorded. Known ones include alternate versions of "Rise Above", "Damaged I", and a version of their arrangement of Richard Berry's "Louie Louie" which devolved into, according to frontman Henry Rollins, "a strange jam at the end until the tape ran out". In addition, there were reports from their engineer of a near-finished version of the album with Dez Cadena on vocals existing. Tracks were released on the Six Pack EP, while the rest of it has been circulated unofficially.
